Mario Devlin, a brash young street magician, is always looking for the next death-defying trick that will propel him to a higher level of fame. His search leads him to the “Pharaoh’s Curse,” a legendary body-switching illusion that has been passed down through generations to only the best magicians. One day, Mario receives a mysterious package containing footage of the celebrated magician, Harry Kellogg, performing the much sought-after trick. Mario watches intently as two crystal caskets, each holding a participant hang in the air. The participants switch caskets right before Mario’s eyes and he is now determined to learn the secret behind this incredible trick. When Mario finally locates Kellogg, the legendary magician welcomes Mario into the home that he shares with his young assistant, Jillian. While Kellogg and Jillian are immediately impressed with Mario’s skills as a magician, they are put off by his arrogant attitude. Hoping that Kellogg will show him the trick, Mario reluctantly submits to all of Kellogg’s tests.
The longer Mario stays at the house, the more he realizes that he is attracted to Jillian. Mario and Jillian soon begin an affair. Bolstered by his new relationship with Jillian, Mario convinces Kellogg to show him the secret behind the Pharaoh’s Curse. Kellogg finally relents and promises to perform the illusion with Mario in front of an audience. The night of the performance, Kellogg reveals that he knows about Mario’s affair with Jillian before locking him into the casket. Mario watches as Kellogg enters the other casket, worrying that Kellogg has something sinister up his sleeve. When the caskets open, Mario is relieved to see that he is still alive, but this relief soon disappears as he finds himself in an even more frightening situation.
