Marvin Garden is a successful hip-hop artist who is working out in his home gym when he suddenly finds himself inside an interrogation room, accused of killing a cop. Moments later, Marvin finds himself back in his home and gasping for air. He realizes that he had just imagined the whole scenario and that he had never actually left his home. For a week, Marvin falls back to that same vision, returning to normal life with breathing difficulties every time. Marvin considers it nothing more than a reaction to the pressure of creating his latest upcoming album. Later, while driving, Marvin is pulled over by a policeman. Next thing he realizes, he is back in the interrogation room being questioned again. Marvin visits a psychiatrist in order to find an explanation for this past week’s happenings. Marvin takes medication that the psychiatrist prescribed, but the visions of another life continue while in bed with his wife that night. He revisits his psychiatrist and tells him that the pills are making the visions stronger. The visions continue until Marvin resolves his worrying and begins to enjoy his life again, but the visions will not dissipate that easily.

He’s always on the run from Miranda, a sexy and vicious loan shark, and her two henchmen, Kyle and Victor, because he is seriously in debt. On top of that, Jonah’s gambling is getting in the way of his relationship with April, a cocktail waitress who’s always urging him to stop. After Jonah loses all of his money in a hand of blackjack, Miranda tracks him down and orders Kyle and Victor to beat him up. Miranda warns Jonah that if he doesn’t pay her the money he owes, he’ll suffer a worse fate. Left alone in the casino parking lot, a stranger approaches the battered Jonah and offers to help him out. Before he leaves, the stranger gives Jonah a tape recorder and tells the down on his luck gambler, "maybe this will change your luck." Jonah discovers that this tape recorder enables him to rewind time. Jonah immediately uses the tape recorder to win big at the racetracks and in the casinos. Everyone takes notice of Jonah’s new winning streak, including Miranda, who is finally paid in full. Trevor Black, the owner of the casino, believes he knows how Jonah is beating the house.
